D.A.S LX-218 Subs in Orlando
ORLANDO, FL — November 6, 2008 - RMV Media presented the “Segundo Día de Puerto Rico” (Second Day in Puerto Rico) in Orlando (Florida), with an audience of over 10,000 people. The event took place at the Festival Park, in downtown Orlando. Important tropical music singers and musicians participated in the event, amongst them Melina León, Limit-21, Alexis y Fido, Vico C, and La Sonora Ponceña.
Orlando based Advanced Audio installed a powered Aero 28A line array system composed of nine CA-28A mid-high units flown at each side of the stage. Bass reproduction was handled by four ground-stacked CA-215A’s, along with eight units of the new LX-218 subwoofer powered by FP-6400 amplifiers by Lab Gruppen. Several SML-12A powered monitors acted as frontfill giving an excellent coverage for the front area. Three Compact 115 and three Compact Sub 18 systems were set up on the stage, as sidefill and drumfill respectively. Eight ST-015 and ten ST-32 stage monitors.
The new LX-218 subwoofers were the stars of the show providing spectacular low frequency reproduction response. As José Nazario, owner of Advanced Audio Co. explains, “We received the units a week before the event, so we could have enough time to test them. After all the necessary tests were made we were very satisfied with the bass reinforcement response. But the real trial would come during the event, which required high levels of sound pressure, especially in the low frequencies.” Nazario also points out that, “All the technicians that accompanied the bands were also very satisfied, since the LX-218 has got what it takes for a live event of this magnitude. Definitely, the new subwoofers in combination with the Aero systems are the perfect tool for bringing out the sound pressure and quality.”
The new double 18” subwoofer system is the most powerful bass unit that D.A.S. Audio has ever produced. It has been designed to provide exceptional performance in terms of power handling, bandwidth expansion and distortion reduction. This model also incorporates the long-excursion 18LX transducer.
The technical team was composed of José Nazario as P.A. engineer, Daniel Fernández and Rafael Ríos, in charge of the monitors, with stage responsibilities being under the responsibility of Michael Tricoche Luis Rivera and Luis García.

Aero Sound at July 4th Celebrations
ORLANDO, FL — Last July 4th, the city of Sanford (Florida) held its much-awaited 4th July Festival to commemorate American Independence Day. The event took place at Fort Mellow Park on the shores of Lake Monroe and this year featured the group Starship starring lead singer Mickie Thomas and Red Eye Express.
The company ”Advanced Audio Co”, led by Jose Nazario supplied D.A.S. Audio’s powered Aero 28A line array sound system for the festival, made up of 8 modules flown on each side of the main stage together with 4 ground-stacked CA-215A bass systems. Two relay towers, one at 450’-0”, were installed using four CA-28A and two CA-215A units. The relay tower installation covered all of the lakeside pathways thanks to the excellent coverage offered by D.A.S. systems.
On stage Compact 115 and Compact Sub 18 systems were used for side-fill and drum-fill. Stage monitoring was handled by eight ST-015 monitors and Lab Gruppen amplifiers. The P.A. console was chosen from the Allen & Heath 40 channel ML series with TC Electronics Model 480 DBX signal processors and a Techvox Vega console was used for monitor mix together with Ashly “Protea” digital equalizers. According to José Nazario, “Starship’s sound technician was extremely pleased with the performance of the D.A.S. equipment. It was the first time he had used it and he was very impressed.”
This year the real difference was made by the delay towers which were installed to cover the culminating moment of the fireworks show, providing maximum sound pressure across the whole of Fort Mellow Park. “Sanford City Administrators and the event’s producers praised the location and performance of the relay towers with respect to the main stage,” affirms Nazario. “It was precisely what they were looking for; uniform sound and maximum sound pressure across all of Monroe Lake’s pathways, without sacrificing sound quality.” The Sanford City event attracted crowds of over 100,000 people on July 4th who excitedly awaited the night’s firework finale.
